About Global Local

Now in its 11th successful year, Global Local is a forward-thinking and inspirational project. Our vision is simple but very effective.

Global Local aims:
To provide professional performance opportunities to talented emerging artists from a wide range of cultures and communities.

To provide professional performances of global music to hundreds of thousands of people at festivals, community events and club nights.

Who runs the project?

Global Local is funded by the Arts Council England and project managed by Continental Drifts Music in partnership with some of the UK’s greatest producers and promoters of new culture: Movimientos, Fire in the Mountain, Wormfood, MARSM and Front Room Songs. These partnerships enable us to maintain direct links to all of the freshest and newest hybrid sounds emerging from London’s underground scenes.

Continental Drifts Music has been programming festival stages for over 20 years at some of the UK’s most prestigious festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Lovebox and Secret Garden Party. We have built up a legendary reputation for providing music that weaves time-honoured sounds with new cultures, creating a following for ‘21st century remix’. Uniquely, this has enabled us to produce programmes in which unknown acts share the same stage as established artists such as Madness, The Scissor Sisters and Toots and the Maytals. We were also the first to give some of today’s greatest names their first festival bookings: artists such as Muse, Snow Patrol, Lily Allen, Florence and the Machine and VV Brown all found their festival feet on Continental Drifts stages before hitting the mainstream.

Our partners can boast of wildly successful events and projects in their own rights and we are honoured to have them on board. For more information on the work they do, please see our PARTNERS page.

How does it work?

Simply – That’s how!

Festivals can register their interest in participating in the scheme and potentially receive up to  £1500 of the best FREE culture for their event.

To register your interest please email music@continentaldrifts.co.uk

UK based artists can send in short biogs, MP3s and high resolution images to the same email address.
