JOHN KELLY

John Kelly is a powerhouse singer-songwriter whose music is steeped in his London-Irish roots, activism, and unstoppable passion for connection. His songs carry humour, heart, and honesty — the kind that stay with you long after the last note fades.

Performing with his band of long-time collaborators, John transforms any gig into a shared celebration. What begins as a room full of strangers quickly becomes a community — united by rhythm, laughter, and stories of hope. His live shows are uplifting, defiant, and full of joy; you’ll leave feeling connected, inspired, and grinning from ear to ear.

Musically brilliant and lyrically fearless, John’s latest album (featured on Mark Radcliffe’s Radio 2 Music show) is a masterclass in songwriting: sharp, soulful, and deeply human. The songs have been shaped by life on the road — crafted for kinship, laughter, and reflection.

John's TV and radio appearances include BBC (One Show, Then Barbara Met Alan), Netflix, BBC Radio 2 and 4 including his tracks being chosen twice on Desert Island Discs. He has toured nationally and internationally, performing everywhere from intimate venues to major stages, including lead vocals at the 2012 Paralympics Opening Ceremony seen globally by billions. His credits include 9 UK tours, four as Lead Vocal in the acclaimed Reasons To Be Cheerful. John has collaborated on songs with The Blockheads and gave a punk performance of the National Anthem at the Paralympics Homecoming at Wembley Arena (broadcast live on Channel 4). Most recently, John performed at Manchester Folk Festival and celebrated his latest album launch at London’s Southbank Centre. He is an activist within the Disability Rights movement, taking his songs to the streets to fight for equality, independent living and human rights.

Get ready for a night of mighty craic, laughter and songs that will bring us all together.

John can perform solo, as a duo, trio or with his full band of 5/6 musicians. He is also available for song writing commissions and is an experienced and engaging host/MC.

“John is a party, isn’t he? He knows how to hold the audience in the palm of his hand and get everyone cheering — he’s happiness, that man.”

— Tom Besford, Manchester Folk Festival
