Moonlight Sonata

The Piano Sonata No. 14 in C♯ minor "Quasi una fantasia", Op. 27, No. 2, popularly known as the Moonlight Sonata, is a piano sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven. It was completed in 1801 and dedicated in 1802 to his pupil, Countess Giulietta Guicciardi.
- to promote cultural diversity the project is a collaboration with musicians of diverse music cultures to record a sample databank.
- to promote cultural heritage the project aims to upcycle & remix almost forgotten music by worldwide electronic music producers.
- to promote creative commons the sample data bank and the remixes can be used and listened to for free.
- to promote socio-ecological projects the remixes are presented at green, transformational or zero waste festivals, at intergenerational bicycle rides or in „freeboxes“.
- the project thus supports some of the sustainable development goals (SDGs): reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, quality education, gender equality and climate action.
The project is funded by: German Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine Westphalia, Region Rhein-Sieg and City of Bonn.
