Artists: Dutty Moonshine, Temple Funk Collective, The Brass Funkeys, DJ Chris Tofu

Info: Where Brass bands and DJs meet

Hot on the heels of the summer, Global Local brings you a one of a kind event: Brass Bands + DJs mashup extravaganza featuring four of the top festival favourites! The bands play a set then the DJs play a set with the band. Unique and killer part of the Global Local Project.

Dutty Moonshine
Dutty Moonshine are a mash-up collective of DJ's who lace bass heavy sets together with a vintage sound.
To call these guys Electro Swing is like trying to call Tiddlywinks a sport. They push the boundaries to controversy and really have one aim for sets: to create absolute mayhem through fun, baselines and antics to rival any cabaret.

Temple Funk Collective
Hailing from Temple Cowley, Oxford, Temple Funk Collective are an 8 piece melting of brass with the funkiest moments of black music, whether it's the hottest riffs from Stevie Wonder and Stone, or the insanely funky music the band makes up!

The Brass Funkeys
The Brass Funkeys are a New Orleans style Hip Hop Funk Brass Band. Boasting a set up of Sousaphone, Trombones, Trumpets, Saxophone and Percussion they play a range of music including funk, jazz, reggae, metal, and of course dixie.

DJ Chris Tofu
Brass remix obsessed king of the festivals and Shangri-la, Glastonbury Festival Temple Funk Collective Superb band that have destroyed so many stages - 8 piece melting of brass with the funkiest moments of black music, whether thats the hottest riffs from Stevie Wonder and Sly Stone, or the insanely funky music the band makes up .

Info: BoomTown Fair is a UK festival that takes place in August. It features 4 days of live music and art event that offers an array of fringe comedy and theatre. The festival has an ongoing theme surrounding the "legend" of the festival. A lot of effort goes into the decorations, and fancy dress is encouraged, adding to the vibe of the festival. The festival is divided into various 'districts', each with its own camping ground.

The festival attracts a certain type of festival goer, somewhere between a dance music raver and a hard-rocker. The festival, with its diverse selection of music, and elaborate stages, stands out, and it is growing year after year, attracting more and more people.

Location: Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire Cambridgeshire

Artists: Molotov Jukebox, Slamboree , Perhaps Contraption , Kazimier Krunk Band, Brassroots, Tankus the Henge

Info: Like never before, we are aware of our unique position as a social animal. The carnival of the Olympics, the phenomena of the 2012 prophecies, the arrival of the seven billionth human, the dawn of the urban age: ours is a human world. Yet these ‘mass collective moments’ hint at a richer history, a more varied landscape of ceremonial occasion that ...have bound men together across the ages, that have reinforced and reinvented that most remarkable of our achievements: society.

This year, as The Garden celebrates her 10th Birthday, we explore those ceremonies, rituals, initiations, anniversaries and carnivals that bind us together, that emphasise matter over mind, that emphasise our true gifts as humans: social existence.

Great Britain has only recently emerged from a period of restrictive manners, customs and hierarchy. The explosion in the middle of the last century, of freedom, sexual liberation and rebellion, represents a volcanic eruption of the irrepressible lava of human expression. The Secret Garden Party, along with all modern hedonic gatherings, has direct links to this awakening and release of the human spirit.

So get your thinking caps on. Dream your own anniversaries, your own ceremonies, your own initiations. Don’t be a spectator, don’t be part of a passive congregation. Create gatherings and parties that breakdown the walls of inhibition, shyness, the other, the stranger. We are already naked, so use your freedom to unite with your fellow Gardener. 2012 is not the end of it all – it is merely a rallying call to unite, to come together, to reinforce the ties that bind.

Looking forward to the hotly anticipated festival season, this party will bring the charisma and energy of dancehall performers to the fore.

Working with festival programmers and producers, the Hot Wuk Festival showcase will help ensure that reggae and dancehall are well represented at events throughout summer 2012. Jamaica celebrates 50 years of independence this year while the Jamaican Olympic athletics team led by Usain Bolt will ensure that Jamaica is on everyone's lips.

Alongside the live acts, Rinse FM's bashment crew The Heatwave present their high energy festival show joined by carnival dancers in full samba costume. Plus Ras Kwame's Orange Hill and dancehall producer Curtis Lynch with his Necessary Mayhem sound will play futuristic and foundational reggae vibes.

The event celebrates Hot Wuk's journey so far; since 2010, the regular London bashment party has become a 'go-to fixture' on the clubbing calendar. Early London success saw it roll out countrywide in 2011 with events in Brighton, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

Expect to see the hottest artists, most scandalous dancers and explosive carnival hype!

Wormfood and Global Local present African Rootmaster festival showcase

Time and Date: 8pm, March 9, 2012 - March 10, 2012

Location: Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Rd, London, E1 6LA City of London

Artists: Jallykebba Susso and Manding Sabu, Seddik + the Seeds of Creation, Mr. Brett (Yaaba Funk) (DJ)

Info: A celebration of the best African inspired acts on the UK festival circuit this coming summer.

Drawing on a combination of African and UK influences, this night will showcase 3 UK-based bands taking African music in fascinating international directions.

Maverick Gambian griot Jallykebba Susso mixes traditional Mandinka kora music (beautiful melodious 22-string West African harp) with 8-strong international band Manding Sabu drawing on rock, reggae and afro-beat; 70-year old master of the Algerian mandol, Seddik Zebiri, displays his unique take on the music of North Africa that ends up sounding like a psychedelic, Hendrix-inspired desert blues thanks to his powerful band Seeds of Creation.

Hotly-tipped new live project Afriquoi fuse live marimba, African guitar, djembe, African vocals, dancehall MCing and crisp, heavy beats into an uplifting, dance-friendly blend of chimurenga, soca, soukous, dubstep and house: afro electronics! Featuring legendary exiled musicians Kudaushe Matimba (Zimbabwe: Bhundu Boys, Harare) and Fiston Lusambo (Congo: Zong Zing All Stars), alongside UK Ableton wizard Nico Bentley and percussionist Andre Marmot, this is African music for the facebook generation….

All of this washed down by top tunes from across the African diaspora courtesy of Mr. Brett, driving force behind South London’s gritty hi-life/afrobeat/funk sensation Yaaba Funk.

Gypsy Soundclash

Time and Date: 7.30pm - 1am, February 10, 2012 - February 11, 2012

The Great Malarkey

Foot stompin', rabble rousing, joyous mis of East European, Latin, blues, punk and folk. The Great Malarkey play songs of friends, lovers, riots, night terrors and the Dalston job centre. These are the kids you didn't mess with on the playground, and you wouldn't mess with them now: an instrumental call to your arms with lyrics that simultaneously sling an arm around your shoulders and punch you in the stomach

The Kazimier Mobile Krunk Band

A self-amplified dance orchestra of the people, The Krunk Band are yet to be seen on a stage, preferring instead to mingle among the crowds. With trumpeting fanfares and bish-bash-bosh percussion, you might hear some 19th century cancans from a souked-up barrel organ or an accordion-let tribute to a 90's dance classic.
