Looking forward to the hotly anticipated festival season, this party will bring the charisma and energy of dancehall performers to the fore.
Working with festival programmers and producers, the Hot Wuk Festival showcase will help ensure that reggae and dancehall are well represented at events throughout summer 2012. Jamaica celebrates 50 years of independence this year while the Jamaican Olympic athletics team led by Usain Bolt will ensure that Jamaica is on everyone's lips.
Alongside the live acts, Rinse FM's bashment crew The Heatwave present their high energy festival show joined by carnival dancers in full samba costume. Plus Ras Kwame's Orange Hill and dancehall producer Curtis Lynch with his Necessary Mayhem sound will play futuristic and foundational reggae vibes.
The event celebrates Hot Wuk's journey so far; since 2010, the regular London bashment party has become a 'go-to fixture' on the clubbing calendar. Early London success saw it roll out countrywide in 2011 with events in Brighton, Leeds, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.
Expect to see the hottest artists, most scandalous dancers and explosive carnival hype!

Time and Date: 8pm, March 9, 2012 - March 10, 2012
Location: Rich Mix, 35-47 Bethnal Green Rd, London, E1 6LA City of London
Artists: Jallykebba Susso and Manding Sabu, Seddik + the Seeds of Creation, Mr. Brett (Yaaba Funk) (DJ)
Info:
A celebration of the best African inspired acts on the UK festival circuit this coming summer.
Drawing on a combination of African and UK influences, this night will showcase 3 UK-based bands taking African music in fascinating international directions.
Maverick Gambian griot Jallykebba Susso mixes traditional Mandinka kora music (beautiful melodious 22-string West African harp) with 8-strong international band Manding Sabu drawing on rock, reggae and afro-beat; 70-year old master of the Algerian mandol, Seddik Zebiri, displays his unique take on the music of North Africa that ends up sounding like a psychedelic, Hendrix-inspired desert blues thanks to his powerful band Seeds of Creation.
Hotly-tipped new live project Afriquoi fuse live marimba, African guitar, djembe, African vocals, dancehall MCing and crisp, heavy beats into an uplifting, dance-friendly blend of chimurenga, soca, soukous, dubstep and house: afro electronics! Featuring legendary exiled musicians Kudaushe Matimba (Zimbabwe: Bhundu Boys, Harare) and Fiston Lusambo (Congo: Zong Zing All Stars), alongside UK Ableton wizard Nico Bentley and percussionist Andre Marmot, this is African music for the facebook generation….
All of this washed down by top tunes from across the African diaspora courtesy of Mr. Brett, driving force behind South London’s gritty hi-life/afrobeat/funk sensation Yaaba Funk.

Artists: The Great Malarkey , The Kaimier Mobile Krunk Band, DJ Chris Tofu
Info:
Get your stomping boots on, dust off your hats and buckle your braces for a rip roaring gypsy bonanza
The Great Malarkey
Foot stompin', rabble rousing, joyous mis of East European, Latin, blues, punk and folk. The Great Malarkey play songs of friends, lovers, riots, night terrors and the Dalston job centre. These are the kids you didn't mess with on the playground, and you wouldn't mess with them now: an instrumental call to your arms with lyrics that simultaneously sling an arm around your shoulders and punch you in the stomach
The Kazimier Mobile Krunk Band
A self-amplified dance orchestra of the people, The Krunk Band are yet to be seen on a stage, preferring instead to mingle among the crowds. With trumpeting fanfares and bish-bash-bosh percussion, you might hear some 19th century cancans from a souked-up barrel organ or an accordion-let tribute to a 90's dance classic.
