Pulse Beat, a musical tribute to Reggae legends Steel Pulse. We perform many of the original classic songs that brought Steel Pulse to international recognition, including Handsworth Revolution, Bad Man, Prodigal Son, Rally Round, Bodyguard and numerous other classic hits. Pulse Beat, the brain child of Tony Brown (younger brother of Steel Pulse founding/still current member Selwyn Brown) was formed in September 2010. To date we have completed several concerts including Families For Peace in Feb 2011, Simmer Down Festival in Handsworth Park in July 2011, Jamaica Live festival in Victoria Square, B’ham in July 2011 We have received great audience/online feedback and we aim to continue flying the Steel Pulse flag and bringing the Pulse Beat to the people. In addition Pulse Beat also record our own original music which we will include on future concerts. We have just recorded an original song, titled “No Place Like Yard”, written by Selwyn and we contributed the song to the “Jamaica Matters” compilation CD. Similar to the “I am Jamaica” campaign, an initiative inspired out of the Jamaican diaspora, this project also calls on persons throughout the Jamaican community, at home and abroad; to encourage a sense of personal responsibility for each other and to inspire each other in embracing our talents and resources as a burgeoning global community and Reggae Baby Lounge at the Drum in Oct 2011. Pulse Beat is managed by Steel Pulse original members Selwyn Brown and Steve “Grizzly” Nisbett. Selwyn is also musical director and is a guest performer when he is not on tour with Steel Pulse Steel Pulse music has touched many thousands of people around the globe and even prompted Bob Marley to ask for them to open for him on his 1978 world tour. People close to Bob even say Steel Pulse was one of his favourite bands. In addition to this they have received 6 grammy nominations and were awarded a grammy for Best Reggae Album in 1987 for Babylon The Bandit. In 1992 Steel Pulse were invited to perform for Bill Clinton on his presidential inauguration. Fans of Steel Pulse also include Stevie Wonder, Danny Glover, Al Gore, Ruud Gullitt, Carlos Santana, Johnny Rotten, the list goes on. It’s a pleasure for us to be representing such a revered musical and cultural legacy.
