Sheffield Carnival Rockers Mango Rescue Team combine world music and the avant-garde, and aims to link British psychedelic rock with Latin-American and African influences. The result is a high energy 10-piece band augmenting a standard rock set-up with horns, keyboards and extra percussion. They leap from Calypso to Funk, from 60s Rock to Merengue with flourishes of Flamenco, Samba, North African Rai and Central African rumba.
To prepare their First Album “Ritmos Calentitos” the Mangoes have worked with legendary producers from Red Cloud and Warp Records (Womersely & Gordon). The concept album is based on a oniric psychedelic beach party and collects songs that capture the energy of a tropical busy winter tour performing in some of the UK’s most important venues and festivals (e.g Hootanannys, Passing Clouds (London), Hi-Fi (Leeds), Secret Garden Party Festival, Tramlines) alongside and supporting Ibibio Sound Machine, Cat Empire, Nubiyan Twist, Debruit, and Nozinja between others.
