Llareggub Brass Band (it’s ‘buggerall’ spelt backwards..) hail from a small town in North Wales and present a ferocious but flavoursome mix of Jazz and Hip Hop combined with a dash of Welsh Pop channeled by way of the age-old march band tradition. Like any contemporary brass group, they are well capable of smashing out the cover versions but their original material very much holds its own and is already making waves within the scene.
The band takes its name from Dylan Thomas’ fictional town from Under Milk Wood and formed in early 2015. After an extremely active and successful first year, which saw them play a number of festivals and also included sold out shows in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Bangor, the band is already overly-hyped at the prospect of 2016!
Their debut EP, Bradwr, sold out in just two days back in April 2015, and has been re-pressed twice already. In October, the band released their debut album, Mwng – a cover version of the classic Welsh language album by Super Furry Animals from 2000 (the first time in history that an entire Welsh language album has been covered).
The band has collaborated with a broad range of artist from Radio 2 Folk Award winners, 9Bach, to the Penrhyn Male Voice Choir, and Welsh-language rap artist Mr. Phormula. The summer of 2016 will see the release of their much-awaited second album, which feature 10 original songs penned by their Sousaphonist extraordinaire and Bandleader, Owain Roberts.
